Dating back to 1997, the company registered as Anhui Auto Parts Industry Co., Ltd making engines and auto parts. Until December 1999, as Chery Automobile, the company rolled out its first sedan and began to export to international markets a couple of years later.
Chery Group sold 1,000,000 vehicles in 2007, less than 8 years after sales began, breaking a record for China’s and the world’s quickest growth in the automobile sector at the time. In 2023 at 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, Chery Group unveiled its first electric vehicles, OMODA 5 EV and JAECOO, a combined the cutting-edge technology of Chery Group, manufacturing the vehicles that reflect the lifestyle of consumers both in design and function perspectives.

In early 2024, Chery Group is ready for a new milestone. The company will officially launch the service in Thailand bringing OMODA 5 EV and JAECOO to Thai consumers. And, by resuming operations this time, the company aims to invest in the construction of a manufacturing facility, thereby positioning Thailand as a hub for making right-hand drive vehicles in this area as well.
